Building materials stolen from Hope Haven

Currently under construction to assist victimized children and women on Ambergris Caye, Hope Haven organizers have sadly had to report three counts of theft since Saturday, July 15th. After taking count of inventory and reviewing camera footage, the following building materials were stolen: 2X4X14 boards, zinc, sheetrock, along with other construction materials.

Over $25K raised for Hope Haven Children’s Home

The tragic death of 13-year-old Faye Lin Cannon has emphasized the urgency to complete the island’s first children’s home; Hope Haven. As such, island residents, along with members of the Non-Profit-Organization Raise Me Up held events on Friday, July 14th and Saturday, July 15th to gather much needed funds for the construction of Hope Haven. Currently under construction, the shelter is located on Lion Street, across from Maya Island Air. Once completed it, will assist victimized children and women on Ambergris Caye. The fundraising events were quite successful, having raised a total of $25,515 that will go towards the completion of the much needed shelter.
